Repair Cafe Funding Success

The Repair cafe based in Moniaive is pleased to announced that we have been awarded funding from the Circular Communities Scotland 2023 Pockets and Prospects Fund (supported by the Scottish Community Alliance) to enable us to equip and operate the monthly Repair Cafe from the Glencairn Memorial Institute for the next 12 months.

A big Thank You to Circular Communities Scotland for making this possible and to Katie, the Glencairn Health & Wellbeing Officer, for all her hard work on this project.

Thanks also go to DG2 Wheels who have donated spare parts for bike repairs at this month’s Repair Cafe, 10am-1pm on Saturday 1 April.

A message from the Trustees

Moniaive Initiative would like to extend our thanks to the Investing in Communities Fund nearly £91,000 of funding they have granted us since 2020. This has allowed us to progress all of the projects we have been working on with various groups in Glencairn.

These funds have allowed us to:

a) see our existing projects (Affordable Housing and the Hive) through the difficult Covid years,

b) provide vital support to  a number of other local organisations, including Moniaive Playcare, Glencairn Memorial Institute, Glencairn Bowling Club and Glencairn Land and woods Trust, assisting them in progressing their own projects, and

c) consult with the community, identify and commence new projects in our key theme areas: Flooding & Resilience, Sustainable Transport, Heritage & Culture, Economic Regeneration, Health & Wellbeing, Renewable Energy, and Community Spaces

Moving forward we’ll be applying for funding to progress the priorities that you identified, based on what you have told us in your Community Survey, are important to the residents of Glencairn.

These include:

Flooding & Resilience, Sustainable Transport, Heritage & Culture, Economic Regeneration, Health & Wellbeing, Renewable Energy and Community Spaces

Please bear with us until we achieve the funding requires to continue to progress these priorities. If you are interested in volunteering for any of our key priorities, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch via moniaiveinitiative@gmail.com.

Thank you for your continued support.
